5/8 - A Note from Coach
Hello SPAR Families,
I hope you are as excited as I am. We start swim practice in 8 days!
The pool cover is off. The pool prep is under way.
This week we will see each other on Sunday:
4:30pm - Swim Evals for all swimmers who did not swim for SPAR, Summer '21.
5:00pm - Kick Off Party!
If you have not done so already, please join Remind. We use this for quick communications about bad weather and meet delays.
via Text - the number 81010, the message @sailfish
via App - "add class", "join existing class", "sailfish"
A friendly reminder of the typical summer swimmer ailment - Swimmers Ear. It is a bacterial infection in the outer tube of the ear. There is a preventative measure you can follow. Most stores sell little bottles of drops called "swimmers ear". You put a few drops into each ear after you go swimming.
SAIL follows most of the USA Swimming guidelines and technical rules. USA Swimming uses a program called Safe Sport. It is an minor abuse prevention program. This will be covered in the SAIL Coaches Training that Greyson, Nicole and I attend. We will need your help though. Cell phones are a big part of this. Please discuss with your swimmers that they do not use their cell phones in the bathrooms, at all. Another thing to realize, no cell phones are to be used behind the starting blocks during swim meets.
The app/program the swim team uses - Swimtopia... did you know there is a version that you can download to your phones. It will show you upcoming meets, what events your swimmer will be racing in, and more.

Ok, that's it for me.
Have a great week.
See you at the pool,
