Week 6: A Note from Coach
Hello SPAR Families,
We are more than halfway through our Dual Meets. It is so fun seeing all the hard work paying off with great times.
Swimmers of the Week:
Leo Makosiej and Elizabeth Townsend have been so much fun to coach. They work hard, they listen to swimming technique directions, they have excellent sportsmanship, and they are wonderful teammates.
Practice Intensity: We have challenged our swimmers this past week. They have met the challenge and then some. We will continue to do so. They are getting stronger and that equals faster swims.
Stonehaven Meet: The meet this week will be at Stonehaven. They are a fun team to swim against. They are fast swimmers and great hosts. I hope it brings out some really great times. If you have not done so already, please declare your intents to swim and pick your volunteer shift.
Do you know you can see the SAIL Rankings?
If you go to https://greenvillejournal.com/2021-sail-individual/ you can see how your swimmer is doing against other SAIL participants. You can also set the filter to see just our Green Division.
Divisionals: This meet is one where families/parents do not pick swimmer events. As with our Dual Meets, the swimmers earn points for the team, based on what placement they earn in their event. As in years past, our team will aim to earn what is called the Quality Points Award (team points divided by the number of swimmers) We are most often one of the small teams in our Division, this year is no different. We have a wonderful number of swimmers, who make an impact on the points. The Coaches and I will use previous meets information and the rankings on Greenville Journal to determine which events to enter swimmers. For Relays, each team may enter one relay per event in medley and free.
