Sail Volunteer Online Certification tests
Good evening SPAR,
As most of you know, it takes a lot of volunteers to run a swim meet. Each team in a dual meet brings volunteers to help the meet run smoothly so the swimmers can do their best in the pool. If you are a member of the SPAR team, we ask EVERY family to certify in some volunteer position. Volunteer positions are of 2 categories: Officials (referee, stroke & turn, computer operator, clerk of course and Starter) and regular volunteers (Timer, Runner, and Chief Timer). **NOTE- we will not be using records this season because Sail is not using blue cards. The biggest difference between the two categories is the Officials will attend a Zoom class then take the online certification test and the regular volunteers only need to take the online certification test. The tests can be found on the Sail swimtopia site (www.sail.swimtopia.com) under the Certification tab. You will just click on the test you want to take and follow the prompts. Sail is using a Google doc to time stamp your tests. You can re-submit a test if you don't pass. You can take the test as many times as you wish. All dates for the Official training are on the site and they will be via Zoom with exception of Clerk of Course. Sail will send a link out for the classes and I will forward them to the team.
The tests are live now!!! I have taken 2 and it is easy!! PLEASE review the Education Material for your test. They are the ones with the work 'clinic' on them. Before the season starts we will do a Timer training down at the pool during a team practice. This sounds like a lot BUT it is super easy. When you volunteer you are part of the meet and can see the action in the pool. We need each family to volunteer for at least 1 half of Away meets and the entire meet of our Home meets. Again, EVERY family needs to certify in at least 1 position.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.
We will go over this a bit on the Parent zoom chat also.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all at the POOL!
