A Note from Coach, 2 weeks out
Hello SPAR Families
I am getting excited. 2 weeks until Swim Season Starts!
In leading up to the beginning of practices, I’m going to go over, re-teach, and review some common SPAR expectations. We have not been in the water for 2 summers, we forget things. We also have a bunch of new swimmers joining us.
Parent Zoom Meeting: Thur May 6th at 7pm. Please find the email from “President SPAR Swim Team” sent on Wed Apr 28th for the Link to attend the meeting.
Covid Guidelines for Pool - We are going to continue to follow the DHEC guidelines. Please plan to practice social distancing. This includes but not limited to - assigned lanes, specific locations around the pool for bags and towels, not sharing of kickboards, and not all swimmers on one end of the pool/lane.
Swim practice: swimmers need to come to the pool in their swimsuit. We are going to try to limit the restrooms only for bathroom use. Swimmers will need to bring their own plastic water bottles and goggles, caps are optional. Swimmers will need to wear competitive suits during practice (this can be either the team suit or a different suit)
Suits for Meets Rule - Swimmers must wear a competitive swimsuit and cap during meets. The suits can either be a solid black suit or the team suit. (for boys - the competitive suits are called “jammer”) You can order our team suits from Augusta Swim Shop, user id: spar, password: sailfish. The caps must be solid colored with no lettering, or a team cap.
New Swimmer Eval: all swimmers who have not swam for SPAR in the past will need to participate in the Swimmer Eval. This will occur on Sun May 16th, at 3pm.. The eval will differ slightly based on the age of the swimmer. It is very basic, showing how well the swimmer can swim 1 lap of freestyle.
The Age Group a swimmer will compete and practice in; is determined by the age a swimmer is on May 31. Swimmers do not move age groups during the season.
Our team website has a wide variety of resources and information. (former emails, practice schedule, swim meet 101, faq, handbook, etc) You can also reach out to me, if you have any concerns or questions.
See you at the pool,
