No News is Good News
Hello SPAR Family,
I am following the saying "No News is Good News". It is helping me keep my Hope alive.
If we were following normal summer swim schedule, we would be getting in the pool tomorrow. I gotta say though, good thing we are not - the water is Cold. I was at the pool this weekend, checking on things, let me tell you- brrr. We would have blue lips and shivering bodies.
I have been prepping for the season - in my own way. I have been working diligently on my coaching tan lines - very similar to a farmers tan. Only, I tend to burn my feet while on the pool deck - gonna hafta wear shoes this year.
I am excited, only 14 calendar days until June 1. I have keep having good thoughts, I'm planing workouts, I'm anticipating the great swims we will have this summer. I have Hope.
A little different, I am sharing the following: There is a FB Channel I follow: Proactive Coaching. They posted recently "Ten Disciplines for Athletes..." As I read through the list, I realized - this is not just for Athletes, it applies everybody, in every facet of your life.
1. Arrive early and energized
2. Purposeful Work – Focused attention and effort for an entire training session
3. Respecting authority and opponents
4. Personal responsibility and accountability
5. Listening with positive intent and to learn
6. Controlling emotions and reactions even when others don’t
7. Maintain strong, confident body language
8. Doing the small things well – focused on the details
9. Earning your success and no short cuts
10. Finishing what you start and finishing strong
Stay Hopeful and see you real soon.
I hope you have a wonderful week. Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend.
See you at the pool,
Coach Kim
