SAIL updates

Good evening SPAR families! I wanted to pass on the update we heard from SAIL this week. After receiving input from most teams in the area, the SAIL executive board is making plans for a modified season--possibly starting later, shortened, and without Championships and Classics. The season would end no later than July 25th.

However, we are still waiting on the governor and DHEC to announce when area pools can open. Our HOA expects that our pool will be ready to go by our original start date of May 18th, however, we do expect some type of delay into June at least. It's just hard to say at this point. Another thing to consider is that DHEC may allow pools to open but restrict the number of people in the pool at once to such a low number that it would make practice impossible.

If we do get to have a season, I'm sure things will be a little different this year, just like everything else in our world currently :)  T-shirts will come a little late, we may have fewer meets, Divisionals may or may not happen or may work differently etc.

All that to say, the coaches and Board are still hoping to have swim team this summer! And speaking of coaches---if you haven't already seen it on the website--we're happy to welcome back Kim Ashworth as Head Coach, Greyson Marlowe as Assistant Coach along with Nicole Hurley as our new Junior coach!

Please know, though, that if your family decides you are uncomfortable with the possible exposure of swim team this summer, we are happy to refund your full registration cost. Also, if the season is canceled, we will also be refunding everyone. If you have written us checks, we are still holding those anyway. So, if you already know that you will not be participating this summer due to COVID or due to the modified season, please contact our treasurer, Patty Yeary to get started with a refund. You can email her at [email protected] or call or text her at 864-567-1299.

I will keep you posted of anything else we hear! Please let me know if I can answer any more questions you might have!

Stay safe and healthy!

Amy
